Website Traffic

Every day we are inundated with emails offering ways and means to generate huge amounts of traffic to our websites at unbelievable prices. We read these adverts and all of them seem to have the same connotation and end up costing all our hard earned money with no result or without the result we were expecting.

However all is not lost! There are other ways of doing this at no cost.

First of all, why do we need traffic or visitors?

The answer is quite simple. Most web masters or web owners have niche sites on which they publish articles and information about a particular subject. It could be weight loss, exercise, golf or anything that suits their fancy and expertise.

Now imagine if they went to all that trouble and cost to start a web site only to have no visitors to that site.

Believe it or not, this could quite easily happen, because there are literally thousands of web sites for each niche. So if the web page that we would like visitors to land on has nothing to make them land on it, then that is what is going to happen.

So we ask the question, what, do we do to “get traffic to my web site?”

The first thing to do is make sure that when we are writing content for our site we do a thorough keyword search. This costs nothing except a bit of time and can be done with a number of free key word tools such as Google AdWords Free Keyword Tool.

When searching for a keyword, try to think like someone who is on the internet looking for something specific. For example if someone was looking for a traffic generating program they might key in “how do I get traffic to my web site fast” or “how do I get visitors to my web site.” Try to think like the searcher and this will go a long way towards finding the right keyword.

Once we have generated a list of about 50 keywords we can then set about writing the content for our web site, making sure we do not saturate the article with keywords, making it nonsensical. Using one keyword twice in an article is more than enough.

Remember that the search engines love original content and lots of it, so try to train the spiders to hang around the web site with regular article writing. At least one article every 2 days.

So there we have the first part which is just one of the ways to get free visitors to our web site without costing us a dime.
